About

“Until the Stars Burn Out” is an online art and poetry journal, published twice a year, to correspond with the autumnal and vernal equinoxes.

We are interested in work exploring space, astronomy, stars, cosmology and our place in the Universe. We interpret this broadly; indeed, we are looking for diversity of different viewpoints and perspectives. Still, there may be scope for the obvious as well as the startling. We want to fill our pages with wonder and beauty, but won’t shy away from bleakness or injustice. We want to look out towards new worlds, but still understand our own. We want pieces that make us think, daydream, and reflect on both the vastness of our universe, and the common heritage of all life on earth.

The submission window for Issue 2 is now CLOSEDIssue 2, with a theme of Mankind and the Stars, will be published online on March 21st, 2019.

“Until the Stars Burn Out” is designed and edited by Maya Horton. Maya is an astrophysicist, artist, writer and graphic designer (among many other things). You can read more about her here.

You can read the current issue (March 2019) here, and the previous issue here. Please note we are migrating to a new system, and there may be some temporary difficulties with viewing old issues whilst that occurs.
